"I guess working in the Events industry is quite a chilled-out place to work, " I was told just a few days ago.
"Anything but", I giggled in return.
I walked into our sales office this morning, feeling rather despondant with the amount of public holidays that have interrupted our diligent routine, knowing that we have only a few days left until our next big Job Fair taking place at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham on 5 May.
As I work my way towards the office, I am met with the growing hum of what sounds like a swarm of bees. I enter the office and am instantly hit with a flurry of voices and activity - instantly putting me back onto the event railway track!
The events industry is a slightly more bizarre industry that I am traditionally used to. Once show-season starts, so do our stop-watches. We have deadlines, and schedules - emails to be sent on time, lanyards to be ordered. Targeted sales remain consistent, and we find ourselves off the starting line and heading into our show-season marathon.
We're a humble bunch of people. But a group of people who are energetic, enthusiastic and eager to make each and every one of our shows, a success.
We love the buzz. We love the pressure. And most of all, our favourite part of every day at every show is when a delegate, or an exhibitor, come to us and tell us that THEY have had a good show. Job done!
Imagine how the team organising the Royal Wedding feel...
